Tchoukball Rules

Objective

A team throws the ball at one of the rebounders. During this time, the other team must place itself so as to catch the ball after the rebound AND before it touches the ground. If the ball touches the ground, the attacking team scores a point. If the defending team catches the ball, the game carries on (no point is scored). The defending team becomes the attacking team and vice versa.

General

  1. Rules follow the FITB
  2. All players must present a valid U of S student ID card to participate in any Campus Rec event
  3. Treat all opponents and recreation staff with respect.
  4. Jewelry such as watches and necklaces must be removed prior to game start for player safety.

Players

  1. All games are 7 vs 7
  2. A match is defaulted if a team does not have 7 players, 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.

Substitution Procedure

  1. Substitutions are unlimited and can be made at the center line after a point has been scored.
  2. The substitute must wait for the exiting player to leave the field of play completely before entering the game.  

Match Duration

  1. The match consists for 2 20 minute halves, and a 5 minute half-time.
  2. A coin is tossed to decide who will start with the ball.
  3. If there is a tie at the end of regular time, a 5 minute overtime will be played to determine a winner.
  4. At the end of the allotted time, the team with the most points wins.

Referee

  1. The decision of the referee regarding facts connected with play is final.
  2. Abuse of officials WILL NOT be tolerated. Action will be taken on any form of abuse reported to Campus Rec, teams and individuals may be removed from tournament play.  

Rules

  1. Players can hold the ball for 3 seconds, take 3 steps, and make 3 passes before a shot.
  2. The defense may not defend or intercept passes, but are trying to catch the ball before it hits the ground when the other team takes a shot off the rebounder.
  3. Players may shoot at either rebounder, but only 3 consecutive shots are allowed at the same rebounder.
  4. There must be at least one completed pass after play is restarted before a shot can be taken.

Scoring

  1. 1 point is awarded to the throwing team when the ball rebounds from the frame and hits the floor within bounds and outside the forbidden zone.
  2. After each point scored, the non-scoring team starts with the ball out of bounds at the baseline next to the rebounder.
  3. You cannot interfere with a player trying to throw or catch a ball.
  4. No blocking, screening, or standing in the way of the rebounder is allowed

Faults

 The ball is turned over, and the other team starts with the ball where the fault occurred if:

  1. A player commits interference, blocks or defends an opponent
  2. A player runs with the ball for more than three steps
  3. A players runs and dribbles the ball
  4. The ball is dropped during a pass
  5. The ball contacts a player below the knee
  6. A player holds the ball for more than three seconds
  7. A team makes more than three passes before shooting (the first pass after a point is not counted)
  8. A player steps out of bounds or on the line of the forbidden zone while holding the ball
  9. A false rebound occurs (the ball hits the metal frame of the rebounder)
  10. A player takes the fourth consecutive shot on the same rebounder

The other team is awarded a point if:

  1. A player shoots and misses the rebounder completely
  2. After the rebound the ball goes out of bounds
  3. After the rebound the ball lands inside or on the line of the forbidden zone
  4. After the rebound the ball hits the shooter
