Masters Swim Program

The Master’s Swim Program is designed for those who are looking for a fitness program based on a speed-swimming workout. The University of Saskatchewan’s Masters Swim Program is open to anyone over the age of 18, including students. All levels of ability are welcome as swimmers are grouped by their ability into different lanes in the pool. A certified coach is present at all swims to provide a varied workout for all swimmers. Workouts include speed, strength, endurance and proficiency training as well as a number of fun activities/drills. Workouts are also geared towards recreational and competitive swimmers to give participants a choice in achieving their personal goals for each workout.

All swimmers who are participants in the U of S Master’s Swim Program are registered with Swim Saskatchewan which is included in their registration fee to the University. Being a registered swimmer with Swim Saskatchewan allows those competitive swimmers to compete in various meets throughout the year. Competing is optional.

The U of S Master’s Swim Program offers a wide variety of opportunities for swimmers outside of their routine workouts. Stroke development/enhancement clinics are offered periodically throughout the year to provide swimmers with the resources and feedback to correct their strokes. Clinics also focus on flexibility, strength training, and other training considerations that are specific to a swimmers fitness regime. Equipment is available to videotape swimmer’s strokes underwater to later review and provide corrective feedback. The Master’s Swim Program is also a very social club that has in the past organized potlucks, social outings, and team support at local competitions.
